Aiming to extend Chariots assault
WITH one runner already guaranteed a start in the Chariots Of Fire, Emma Stewart will aim to extend her assault on the famed feature this weekend.
Thanks to his success in The Bonanza in Melton a fortnight ago, rising star Miki To Success is the only pacer to have sealed a berth in Australia's premier four-year-old event, which is scheduled to be conducted at Club Menangle on March 1.
On Saturday night another will earn a position in the Group One via the Hondo Grattan Stake at the world class venue.
Stewart hopes the invite will be secured by one of her three runners - Bay Of Biscay, War Dan Buddy and Kingman.
The record-breaking Victorian trainer is no stranger to Chariots Of Fire glory having captured the 2014 edition with Guaranteed and the 2019 running with Poster Boy.
"Obviously we have them up there to make their way into the Chariots and hopefully things will work out as we'd like," Stewart said. "It's a pretty strong field, but that is to be expected given what is on the line.
"Despite the draws, each has his chance so we'll just have to see how it unfolds on the night."
Bay Of Biscay has fared best in the pole, with War Dan Buddy to come from seven and Kingman drawn 10.
The latter pair move in two positions once the emergencies are taken out.
To be driven by Cameron Hart, Bay Of Biscay heads betting markets as a $3 TAB Fixed Odds favourite, with The Bigboss considered the main danger at $4.80 from barrier five.
Desperate to break his Group One bridesmaid status, Bay Of Biscay has been runner-up in the New South Wales and Queensland Derbys as well as the $2.1million The Eureka.
