MICHAEL BELLMAN

SORRY Michael, but we're adding to the mozz!

During his approach to a driving milestone, Michael Bellman has attracted his share of media attention, which he blames for the extra time it has taken to reach the goal.

Scoring his 1999th win behind Give Dave A Wave in Melton last week, Bellman has been found wanting for that next victory.

In fact, from his last 10 drives, Bellman has been among the placegetters several times where he has been beaten less than two metres.

"The bloody media has put the mocker on me," Bellman laughed. "And now you're going to continue it!

"Yeah, it seems to be taking a while to get that last win to reach 2000, but I'll just keep being patient."

Bellman has three engagements in Melton tonight, with Sasscilian considered his best chance in betting markets.

Drawn barrier three in the fourth race, Sasscilian is the $3 TAB Fixed Odds favourite, with Im Charma the main danger at $4 from gate four.

"He is a solid chance if things go his way," Bellman said. "Hopefully one of the three tonight will get home for me, otherwise, it's up to Mount Gambier tomorrow night."

Despite being on the verge of 2000 wins, Bellman still rates his initial success as his "most memorable".

"My first winner was Little Partner at my fourth drive," Bellman said. "It was at Terang and in my Pop's (Pat Bellman) Memorial race, so it is still one of the most memorable and close to heart.

"I won the Australasian Young Drivers' Championship in 2002 and a couple of SA Trotters' Cup, but I'm still hoping to get a Group One win before I'm done."
