Another Australasian record
PACING sensation Leap To Fame created another slice of history with his win just moments ago.
Proving too good at his home track - Albion Park - Leap To Fame captured the Christmas Cup to register his 60th win from 77 starts.
In doing so, the Grant Dixon-trained champion became the first standardbred in the southern hemisphere to earn more than $5million.
An Australian Pacing Gold purchase, Leap To Fame also has 15 placings to his credit for a bankroll of $5,007,234.
Leap To Fame's worst finishing position is a pair of fourths!
Last July Leap To Fame broke Blacks A Fake's long-standing record to become the richest standardbred south of the equator thanks to his Inter Dominion triumph.
That victory took the stallion's earnings to $4,630,884.
Blacks A Fake - the only pacer to win four Inter Dominions - held the record for more than a decade with a bankroll of $4,575,438 thanks to his 72 wins and 24 placings from 105 starts.
Im Themightyquinn and Lazarus round out the top four with figures of $4,567,456 and $4,125,988.
As for his latest win, Leap To Fame worked to the lead from barrier four before completing a seven-and-a-half metre win from Speak The Truth.
Also trained by Dixon, Tims A Trooper was two metres away third.
Dixon was naturally full of praise for Leap To Fame.
"His record suggests he deserves to be considered among the all-time greats and now he is the richest," Dixon said. "He is certainly a horse of a lifetime and we are very lucky to be involved with him."
