Another Blue Riband clean sweep
FOR the second year champion horsewoman Emma Stewart has completed a clean sweep of Tasmania's Blue Ribands.
Last season Stewart crossed Bass Strait to secure the Derby with Kingman and Oaks with Waterfront.
Returning for last night's Hobart program, Stewart was victorious with Captain Perfect and Beach Diamond.
It is the sixth time Stewart has won a state Derby and Oaks in the same season, having also captured South Australia's classics last year.
In 2017, '21 and '23, Stewart was triumphant in the Victoria Derby and Oaks.
Stewart's latest double also continues Allan McDonough's dominance on the Apple Isle as a driver.
Along with partnering Captain Perfect and Beach Diamond, McDonough drove Kingman during his Derby success and Celebrity Royal to win the same event for Stewart in 2023.
McDonough also trained and drove Paradise Valley to glory in the 2023 Oaks, giving him a Tassie Blue Riband double that season!
Between the pair, Stewart and McDonough have won the last three Derbys and Oaks.
"We have a lot of success when we send horses over to Tasmania," Stewart said. "To be able to win the Derby and Oaks again is a terrific result for the stable, and more importantly, our owners."
