VICTORIAN ace James Herbertson placed another feather in cap at Albion Park last night.

Already boasting achievements such as the Australian and Victorian Drivers' Premierships, Victoria's Young Guns series and six Group One wins, Herbertson claimed the Australasian Young Drivers’ Championship.

Beginning the series with a win in the opening heat last Tuesday, Herbertson finished the first round with a double from three races before a win and a second on night two.

Another victory and second during the third round saw Herbertson heading into last night's final heat with an unbeatable lead.

Herbertson finished fourth as local reinswoman Chloe Butler saluted in front of a large home crowd.

Topping the table with 111 points, Herbertson became the fifth Victorian to secure the title, following the footsteps of Kerryn Manning (2001), Michael Bellman (2002), Ellen Tormey (2012) and Tayla French in 2022.

“This is the last year I am eligible to be in this series, so it’s great to win it,” Herbertson said. “These types of series are always fun, yet competitive, and this year was no different.

“Series like this can often come down to luck of the draw and I was lucky enough to get a few nice drives and was able to make the most of them.”

Butler and New South Wales representative Jett Turnbull rounded out the top three.
