Appropriate win in feature
IT'D take a brave person to suggest Hector's victory at Tabcorp Park Melton last night wasn't appropriate.
Remaining unbeaten from three starts for premier trainer Emma Stewart, Hector stretched his winning sequence to five by capturing The Rising Star.
Pleased with the four-year-old's performance, Stewart has "no doubt" Hector can make his way through the grades.
"He's a nice type which is still very lightly-assessed," Stewart said. "He won his last two in Queensland before he came to us and hasn't set a hoof wrong since he got here.
"I'm more than happy with his run last night and have no doubt he can go a lot further."
With David Moran in the cart Hector was caught wide from barrier five before working to the lead as early pacemaker, The Wolf, was eased to take a trail.
Striding clear along the home straight, the son of Bettors Delight was untouched to score by six metres from Its Ebonynivory.
Ultimate Vinnie was a head away third.
Rating 1:56.6 over 2240 metres, Hector provided Stewart with the third leg of a quartet on the eight-race card!
Bookending the meeting, Stewart was triumphant with Cloud Nine, Polly Put Kettleon and Idyllic.
Having his second start from an 18-month injury-enforced break, Idyllic gave every indication he is back to his best with a 1:54.2 effort over 1720 metres as Im Shadow Boxer and Magic Mike filled the placings.
