Astonishing strike rate to continue
ANOTHER South Australian major is at the mercy of power couple Clayton Tonkin and Emma Stewart.
Regular cross-border raiders during the past decade, Tonkin and Stewart have dominated SA's key features with phenomenal ease.
Since 2015 HRSA has conducted 40 races offering prizemoney of $50,000 or more, with the Victoria duo winning 17.
Of the 40, however, Tonkin and Stewart have only contested 20, giving them an astonishing strike rate of 85 per cent in SA's richest races.
Tonkin and Stewart's haul includes all three of The Allwood Finals in 2019, '20 and '21 - the only $100,000 events in the state since the 2018 SA Cup, which they also won with Shadow Sax!
As for the next major destined to head to Victoria, it is tomorrow night's $50,000 BOTRA Southern Star Series Final at Globe Derby.
Tonkin and Stewart will be represented by unbeaten filly Let Her Roll, which is a $1.04 favourite.
Successful in her heat, Let Her Roll has drawn to lead throughout from barrier two with Gaita Pullicino in the cart.
"She is a pretty nice filly," Tonkin said. "So far she hasn't set a hoof wrong and we can't see any reason why that should change on Saturday night.
"She came through last week's run in super fashion and her work has been solid since, so she'll take a lot of running down."
