Back to the paddock after perfect cameo campaign

HAVING completed a perfect "cameo campaign", Sahara Breeze is heading back to a paddock.

Given a rushed preparation to be readied for the Australian Pacing Gold series, Sahara Breeze made a clean sweep of the futurity by capturing the $100,000 Final.

First-up from a five-month spell to win a heat, the Gary and Debbie Quinlan-trained filly repeated the dose at Tabcorp Park Melton tonight.

Naturally thrilled with the three-year-old's performances, Gary revealed Sahara Breeze will be given another spell before being primed for late season majors.

"When we brought her back into work she was as big as a whale," Gary said. "We figured there was no way she was going to be ready in time for the APG.

"We pushed ahead non-the-less and I'm certainly glad we did.

"She has done a terrific job considering she has had a rushed preparation and still isn't fully wound up.

"She doesn't have to worry about fitness now anyway, as this was just a cameo campaign for the series and she's going back to a paddock."

With Greg Sugars holding the reins, Sahara Breeze worked to the lead from barrier five before being eased to take a trail behind Little Miss Lily.

Angled away from the pegs around the home turn, the daughter of Captaintreacherous reclaimed the lead close to the line to score by a metre from Little Miss Lily.

Delightful Tammy was 12-and-a-half metres away third in 1:56.2 over 1720 metres.
