Big payday still on the table
ALREADY guaranteed a $250,000 bonus, star performer Swayzee will attempt to double the amount this weekend.
In what can only be described as a phenomenal promotion, Harness Racing New South Wales offered a mouth-watering $1million bonus to the connections of any pacer which completed a clean sweep of the Carnival of Cups series.
There is also a $500,000 bonus for any pacer which wins four and a $250,000 bonus for three wins.
Swayzee secured the bottom amount after winning the first three legs of the series, but missed a clean sweep when runner-up behind Captain Hammerhead in Albury.
Set to compete in Saturday night's Renshaw Cup in Penrith, Swayzee is a $1.25 TAB Fixed Odds favourite for training sensation Jason Grimson despite his second row draw.
To be driven by Cameron Hart, the son of Rock N Roll Heaven will come from barrier nine, with Captain Hammerhead considered the main danger at $5.50 from gate eight.
Should Swayzee collect the $500,000, he will equal Master Musician as the biggest bonus earner.
In 1990 Master Musician collected the extra $500,000 by winning eligible two-year-old features in his native New Zealand and New South Wales.
With stake earnings of $571,164, the gelding became the industry's first 'Million Dollar Baby', however, with bonuses not recognised as official earnings, Master Musician has been denied that title.
