ALWAYS HOT

BOOM youngster Always Hot maintained his perfect record with an exhilarating victory at Club Menangle last night.

Second-up from a four-month spell, Always Hot treated his rivals with contempt in the Simpson Memorial to stretch his undefeated status to six.

Naturally pleased with the performance, trainer Emma Stewart believes the son of Always B Miki and Our Celebrity has the potential to be the best she has trained.

A Group Two winner, Our Celebrity was retired with 12 wins and 10 placings from 29 starts for earnings of $130,019.

“We’ve got a huge opinion of this guy," Stewart said. "We've felt he was a nice type from the beginning and just gave him time.

"We trained his dam, and although she put together a good record, she was a handful.

"He's a true professional and gives every indication he can race on to be the best we've had come through the stable."

With Greg Sugars in the cart, Always Hot was caught three-wide for the first 800 metres from his wide draw before being eased forward to find the lead at the halfway mark.

Immediately striding clear of his rival, the colt was untouched on his way to an 11-metre win from Mac Bon, with Dance With Carmer a half-head away third.

Covering the last half in 55.8 seconds, Always Hot stopped the clock in 1:51.9 over a mile.

"He did plenty of work tonight and still won with ease," Stewart said. "He has so much raw speed, but also plenty of strength.

"That run will put him exactly where we want him heading into the New South Wales Derby heats in a few weeks."
