Bragging rights ahead of wedding

Bragging rights ahead of wedding
SAMANTHA PASCOE and WAYNE HILL

IT'S yet to be made public if the final event at Globe Derby on Saturday night will have any bearing during the course of the next few decades, but chances are the decision on who's the boss is likely to have been part of the equation!

In what was their last racetrack clash before swapping vows the following afternoon, Samantha Pascoe claimed bragging rights over her husband-to-be, Wayne Hill.

Not only did Pascoe drive the winner, Trumpys Legend, she also trains the gelding.

Leading throughout from the pole, Trumpys Legend scored by a half-neck from Magic Storm, which enjoyed the perfect one-one trail.

Pay Me Mortgage was four-and-a-half metres away third with Pascoe's sister-in-law, Dani Hill, in the cart.

"It was a great way to end the night before our wedding," Pascoe said. "I don't know about who is the boss, but heading into the wedding as the last start winner is a good start!"

Hill wasn't without his own moment in the spotlight, having partnered Kittykat Cutie to glory in the Ladyship Stake.

Co-trained by Jill Neilson and Katie Wilson, the daughter of Stay Hungry rated 2:02 over 1800 metres as Shirley Not and Machete Roulette filled the placings.

Taking her record to two wins and two thirds from five starts, Kittykat Cutie is likely to be kept fresh ahead of the Southern Cross heats in a fortnight.

HOOFNOTE: In what was a busy weekend of celebrations, Saturday was also Pascoe's 27th birthday.
