GLOBE Derby is poised to shine brightly on December 29.

In what is a true assembly of some of the industry's brightest stars, the South Australian venue is set to host the Australian Driving Championship.

A dozen drivers - two from each state - will clash in 10 heats for the honour of the nation's best for 2024.

Among the hopefuls is champion Victorian reinsman Chris Alford, who will attempt to regain the crown he captured in 2017.

With almost 8200 wins to his credit - a southern hemisphere record - Alford requires no introduction to harness racing enthusiasts.

"I'm looking forward to getting over there," Alford said. "It's always a bit of fun and great to catch up with people you don't see very often.

"But that's off the track...on the track it gets pretty serious as we all want to win!

"I've had two attempts since I won it, so hopefully it is third time lucky and I can get the title back."
