Chance to join exclusive fraternity
DUAL Inter Dominion winning horseman Jason Grimson has two opportunities to join an exclusive fraternity this weekend.
Capturing the industry's 'Holy Grail' with Boncel Benjamin at Menangle in 2021 and I Cast No Shadow at Melton the following year, Grimson is aiming to become just the third trainer to secure the Final with different pacers.
Brian Hancock was the ground breaker after winning the Championship with Thorate at Globe Derby in 1990, Weona Warrior at Harold Park in 1994 and Our Sir Vancelot, also at Globe Derby in 1997.
Thanks to his victories in 1998 and '99, Our Sir Vancelot became the first triple Inter Dominion winner.
New Zealand genius Mark Purdon was triumphant with Smolda in 2016 and Lazarus the following year - both at Gloucester Park - before co-training Ultimate Sniper with Natalie Rasmussen to win the 2019 Auckland Final.
As for Grimon's attempt for a third Inter Dominion success, he will rely on Curly James and Nerano at Club Menangle on Saturday night.
Runner-up during the first round of heats, Curly James was unplaced on the second night before finishing third at Menangle last weekend.
To be driven by Cameron Hart, Curly James is an $11 TAB Fixed Odds shot after drawing barrier five.
Nerano, which won his second round heat but was unplaced during the other two rounds, is listed at $31.
Drawn the outside of the front row, Nerano will be partnered by Jack Gallaghan.
