HANDY pacer Fifteen Aces will attempt to complete consecutive wins of a unique nature at Club Menangle tomorow.

Engaged in the final event on the card, Fifteen Aces is a last-start winner in Penrith for training couple Nathan and Katie Xuereb.

While that isn't exactly unusual, the difference in this situation is Fifteen Aces' success was on June 30, 2023!

Rapt with Fifteen Aces' performance, the Xuerebs were soon left "gutted" when it was discovered the son of Rock N Roll Heaven had injured a suspensory during the run.

Given Fifteen Aces had previously suffered a similar effort, the Xuerebs decided to retire the six-year-old.

"We'd already nursed him back from a suspensory, done the rehab with him and he made it back to the races, where he won another four or five," Nathan explained. "After doing it again, we just decided to retire him.

"After two years I said to Katie why don't we use him to cart babies along, so he started that and was enjoying being active.

"We never planned to bring him back to the races, but when the babies went out in December, and he was looking so terrific, we gave him a workout and he pulled up great.

"Then we figured we'd give another go. He's loving the work, is feeling sensational and looking a million dollars."

To be driven by Nathan, Fifteen Aces faces an arduous return after drawing the outside of the front row over a mile.

"It's a shocking draw," Nathan said. "The preferential conditions didn't help because, although he hasn't raced for so long, he still has two wins from his last five starts.

"He is working great, and I know if he is close enough he will be thereabouts as he always tries his guts out, but I will be driving quietly given  he hasn't raced for so long."

Earlier on the card the Xuerebs will be represented by Fox Trot, which is aiming to break his maiden at his seventh start.

With Nathan to take the reins once again, Fox Trot will begin from barrier three.

"He goes alright, but is very green and learning along the way," Nathan said. "We've been happy with his last few runs and expect another good showing from him.

"Robbie Morris has been driving him, but has another engagement in the race, but he likes the horse and thinks the ability is there."
