Club boosts Cup night stakes

AS A club with over 87 years history behind it, the Strathalbyn Harness Racing Club has focused on country racing and supporting the harness industry.

The Strathalbyn Pacing and Trotters' Cups will once again take place this year, despite not being held at our home track.

This year the Cups will  carry stakemoney of $20,000, as well as six additional support races carrying stakes of $9990.

A significant investment has been made by the club to increase stakes with an additional $44,000 being offered over the eight race program.

The meeting is scheduled to be conducted at Globe Derby Park on April 5, making this one of the most anticipate and richest nights on the South Australian calendar.

Additional incentives will also be provided for all trainers racing on the night including lucky stall prizes.

In front of the grandstand, a sponsor’s marquee will be operating, as well as a wide range of entertainment for the general public.

The Committee was unanimous in its support of the industry and believed the increased prizemoney on the night was one of the best ways to accomplish this.
