WELL-KNOWN South Australian trainer Lane Johnson had his property targeted by criminals last night.

Johnson and his family were woken by a loud noise towards the front of their land only to discover the front gate was ablaze.

Police and firefighters were promptly dispatched to the scene where it was discovered fire bombs, commonly-known as molotov cocktails, had been thrown towards the house.

Via his Facebook page, Johnson revealed he believes the incident is a harness racing related attack.

"Tonight's events were a sobering reminder of the destructive behavior that still exists in our industry," Johnson wrote. "We were targeted with petrol bombs, but fortunately, no one was injured."

Revealing the law enforcement foresonic squad is conducting an investigation, Johnson encouraged the perputrators to "seek help".

"The swift response from police and firefighters was greatly appreciated," Johnson commented. "Forensic investigations are ongoing.

"I hope this incident prompts those responsible to seek help and adopt a more positive out look."
