Difficult task in bid to regain title
CLASSY pacer The Lost Storm will face a difficult task during his bid to regain the Vicbred Super Series title.
Winner of the two-year-old Final in 2022, The Lost Storm bypassed last season's edition of the futurity due to his commitment in the $2.1million The Eureka at Club Menangle.
Unable to secure a slot in this year's edition, The Lost Storm has once again qualified for a Vicbred Final, which is scheduled to be conducted in Melton on Saturday night.
Fourth in a Melton-based heat a fortnight ago, the Emma Stewart-trained entire struck winning form by capturing a semi at the same venue last weekend.
"His first few starts this time in weren't as good as we expected, but he showed last week he has worked himself back into form," Stewart said.
"His work since has been solid, but he is going to have to be at the top of his game on the night to win this.
"It's a strong field and he has drawn poorly, so there will be no room for anything but his best."
To be driven by Mark Pitt, The Lost Storm has drawn barrier 13 - the outside of the second row.
One of five Stewart-prepared runners in the field, the son of Captainrtreacherous is on the seventh line of betting at $10 with TAB Fixed Odds in what is an open field.
The Michael Stranley-trained Exotic Bushranger heads the market at $4.40 from gate three.
Exotic Bushranger moves into two once the emergency is taken out of the equation.
Drawn the inside of the back line, Perfect Class is considered Stewart's best prospect at $5.50.
"It is a pretty even field," Stewart said. "We're happy enough with all our runners and have no doubt any of them can win with the right run."
