Dominance spread across statelines
JUST as she did a fortnight ago, champion horsewoman Emma Stewart spread her dominance across three states during the weekend.
Stewart had runners engaged in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, with her stable registering wins in each region.
Registering a treble with War Dan Buddy, Storms Collide and Fox Dan close to home in Melton on Saturday night, Stewart prepared Hungry Hippo to prevail in Hobart the following evening.
In South Australia, the record-breaking trainer notched a treble at Globe Derby via Ivseenheavenslight, Beach Diamond and Reach The Peak.
Overall, Stewart had 10 starters, which netted seven wins and a second.
"We had a pretty good weekend," Stewart said. "It was a far effort logistically, but well worth it.
"We felt each of them had solid chances and they all ran good races."
Ivseenheavenslight opened Stewart's Globe Derby account when driven to a tough win by Wayne Hill.
Despite working overtime in the 'death seat', the daughter of Bettors Delight scored by four metres from John Vincent, with Boulder City 12-and-a-half metres away third.
Stewart and Hill then combined to emerge triumphant with Beach Diamond, which trounced her rivals in 1:59.1 over 2230 metres.
Stewart and Hill rounded out their treble when Reach The Peak cruised to a soft victory from Star Man and Art Regal in 1:58.9 for the 1800-metre trip.
Although trained in Victoria by Stewart, the trio are primarily owned by South Australian interests.
Boasting a phenomenal strike rate over the border this season, Stewart has had 15 starts for 12 wins and a second.
"We enjoy racing horses in Adelaide," Stewart said. "We always seem to have a good amount of luck when we send some over.
"With quite a few of them, such as the three from Saturday night, owned in South Australia, it is good to be able to have them race there for the owners to go and watch."
