Domination becoming 'the norm'!
IN WHAT has become 'the norm', power couple Clayton Tonkin and Emma Stewart captured yet another South Australian major just moments ago.
Regular cross-border raiders during the past decade, Tonkin and Stewart have dominated SA's key features with phenomenal ease.
Since 2015 HRSA has conducted 41 races offering prizemoney of $50,000 or more, with the Victoria duo winning 18.
Of the 41, however, Tonkin and Stewart have only contested 21, giving them an astonishing strike rate of 85.7 per cent in SA's richest races.
Tonkin and Stewart's haul includes all three of The Allwood Finals in 2019, '20 and '21 - the only $100,000 events in the state since the 2018 SA Cup, which they also won with Shadow Sax!
As for their latest triumph, Tonkin and Stewart were successful with Let Her Roll in the $50,000 BOTRA Southern Star Series Final at Globe Derby.
Fresh from her heat win last weekend, Let Her Roll led throughout from barrier two to score by 17 metres from Fantasea, which is also trained in Victoria by Geoff Webster.
Art Regal was the best of the locals when seven-and-a-half metres away third.
With Gaita Pullicino in the cart, Let Her Roll rated 1:57.2 over 1800 metres to maintain her perfect record from three starts.
By Sweet Lou, the two-year-old is from Rocknroll Magic which won the $60,000 Southern Cross Finals in 2015 and '16.
"She is bred to be something special and so far she is living up to her bloodline," Tonkin said. "At this stage of her career she hasn't set a hoof wrong and we can't see any reason why she won't keep getting better."
HOOFNOTE: Of the other 23 SA events over $50,000 Tonkin and Stewart haven't won, 14 have been secured by interstate trainers.
