Double dose of pride
PROMINENT horsewoman Lisa Fitzpatrick enjoyed a double dose of pride at Club Menangle last night.
No stranger to success at the world class venue, Fitzpatrick captured the Two-Year-Old Foundation Final with handy trotter Cee Cee In Paris.
The victory was made all-the-more special given Fitzpatrick bred the two-year-old.
Fitzpatrick also bred the winning driver, Zara, providing the trainer with a proud mother-and-daughter experience.
"It was a wonderful night," Fitzpatrick said. "It is always a thrill to win a feature race, or any race for that matter, with one you have bred.
"To have Zara driving, and getting her first metropolitan win, made it all-the-more special."
Beginning well from barrier five, Cee Cee In Paris was settled two-back along the pegs as Aldebaran Tucker led from gate six.
Three-wide entering the home straight, Cee Cee In Paris quickly dashed to the front before holding off a late charge from Cartacalha to score by a metre-and-a-half.
Aldebaran Tucker battled on to be five metres away third.
Covering the mile in 1:59.4, the daughter of Classic Connection took her record to two wins and two placings from six starts for earnings of $22,908.
"She still raced a little greenly, but it was a great run," Fitzpatrick said. "I'll give her a few easy days now before we go back to Menangle for the Trot Final in a fortnight,"
