A HANDY return to racing, along with an ideal draw, have given Hurricane Harley's connections confidence an overdue return to the winners' circle is nigh.

A multiple Group One winner for record-breaking horsewoman Emma Stewart, Hurricane Harley was transferred to Western Australian trainer Justin Prentice in early 2021.

Producing his best with three wins from his first five starts on the other side of the Nullarbor, the son of Bettors Delight lost all form before being sidelined for 10 months.

Disappointing during his three outings late last season, Hurricane Harley was transported back to Stewart in November.

Making his second Stewart 'debut' in a Mercury80 heat at Tabcorp Park Melton last weekend, Hurricane Harley was runner-up behind Catch A Wave.

"I was happy with his run," Stewart said. "It was the kind of hit out he needed and he has taken a lot from it.

"He will be sharper this week, but he'll need to be against a solid field."

Poised to return to Melton on Saturday night, Hurricane Harley is engaged in the Casey Classic over 2240 metres.

To be driven by Mark Pitt, the stallion has drawn to utilise his gate speed from the pole.

"He's drawn well and certainly gets his chance from there," Stewart said.
