Draw Delights David
REJUVENATED pacer Max Delight has a prime opportunity to earn maximum points during Friday night's opening round of Inter Dominion heats.
Heading into the Championship in stellar form, Max Delight has drawn barrier three in the first Newcastle-based heat for trainer David Aiken.
"Very happy" with the gelding's starting position, Aiken is confident Max Delight will settle in a prominent position early before playing a major role in the finish.
"The draw gives him a big chance of winning, or at the very least, earning good points to start the series," Aiken said.
"Getting high points early-on is important as you're not as worried about playing catch-up for the rest of the heats.
"I'm very happy with the draw as well as Max's condition going into the night and hoping it can be a good couple of weeks with him."
Max Delight will be reunited with top reinsman Nathan Jack, who drove the son of Bettors Delight to register his first win in 18 months when triumphant in Wagga in October, 2023.
Since then the eight-year-old has recaptured his best form, winning eight races, five with Jack in the cart.
Jack was unavailable to partner Max Delight when he scored at Club Menangle a fortnight ago, with Josh Gallagher proving to be a worthy deputy.
"Max has had a terrific year," Aiken said.
"He's run his fastest time, earned just shy of $300,000 and is just feeling great.
"With a bit of luck the biggest win of his career, let alone this season, will come in the Inter Final in a couple of weeks!"
