Draw puts perfect record at risk
Miss Idaho

STAR filly Miss Idaho faces a daunting task in her bid to maintain her perfect 'home ground' record tomorrow night.

Engaged in the South Australia Oaks, Miss Idaho not only faces a tough field, but has to overcome a disastrous draw.

Undefeated from seven starts at Globe Derby, the daughter of Ultimate Machete will begin from barrier seven - the outside of the front row.

Or as trainer Ryan Hryhorec described it, "the car park".

"She couldn't have gotten a worse draw against such a hot field," Hryhorec said. "I'll certainly be going out there with less confidence."

Returning from a three-month break with a win in Port Pirie a fortnight ago, Miss Idaho is listed on the third line of betting at $5.50. with Showsomejoy a $1.70 favourite from gate eight.

Prepared by Victorian horsewoman Emma Stewart, Showsomejoy has been kept fresh since finishing third in the Victoria Oaks on October 12.

Elusive splits the pair at $3.50 from the pole.

Although locally-bred and owned, Elusive will make her South Australian debut for trainer Michael Norman.

The three-year-old was a last start second in the Group One New South Wales Breeders' Challenge at Club Menangle under the care of astute horseman Peter Rixon.

"My filly is in great order and is where I want her to be for this, but she's going to need luck," Hryhorec said. "Not only from the draw, but against a couple of nice fillies.

"Emma's is the obvious one to beat, with Elusive the one most likely to do it.

"We'll be doing our best and will have to see how it unfolds on the night."
