Drawn dampens confidence
A HORROR draw has dented confidence ahead of Saturday night's Melton meeting.
Set to embark on a six-hour trip to Victoria's home of harness, Tough Aint Enough's connections will undertake the journey with less enthusiasm than hoped.
Sure Tough Aint Enough is in fantastic form, with three wins and a second from four starts this campaign, but a second row barrier will make life difficult.
"My partner Dwayne (Locke) owns the horse and does all the work with him, so he'll make the trip with Terry Cahill, who is the other owner," trainer Andrew Stenhouse said. "The draw is terrible and certainly puts us behind the eight ball.
"We've got to hope they go hard early and he can come off the speed, which is the way he prefers to run.
"He is one of those horses which can sit on the speed and roll off a descent last half."
To be driven by Alex Ashwood, Tough Aint Enough will begin from gate 12 over 2240 metres.
"Alex talked us into taking him down," Stenhouse said. "Alex said 'you've got to have a crack at it', so we are.
"He won his last start in just four-tenths of a second outside the Mildura track record and did it easily, so he is in the right form
"We'll just have to see how it plays out on the night."
