Drawn to capture overdue Group One
BAY OF BISCAY

QUALITY pacer Bay Of Biscay is favoured to register an overdue Group One victory this weekend.

Proving himself among the best of his crop, Bay Of Biscay has been runner-up in the New South Wales and Queensland Derbys as well as the $2.1million The Eureka.

The four-year-old was also a luckless fourth in the Victoria Derby.

Poised to return to Club Menangle on Saturday night, the Emma Stewart-trained entire is a $1.85 TAB Fixed Odds favourite in the famed Chariots Of Fire.

Earning a berth in Australasia's premier four-year-old event with his Hondo Grattan Stake triumph at the world class venue a fortnight ago, Bay Of Biscay has drawn barrier four, but slots into three with the removal of the emergency.

Bay Of Biscay led throughout from the pole during his latest win and is expected to search for the front again.

Cameron Hart has been booked to drive the magnificently-bred son of Somebeachsomewhere and Nike Franco.

"We are happy with the draw," Stewart said. "No doubt there will be plenty of fireworks at the start, so we'll have to see how it goes.

"One thing I can say is he won't be eased out from that draw."

In a tremendous training effort, Stewart's team will complete half the field, with Bay Of Biscay to be joined by his stablemates Some American, Miki To Success, War Dan Buddy and Stormryder.

The quartet have all drawn wide.

"They haven't fared so well, but it is not the end of the world," Stewart said. "As I said, I'm tipping fireworks and the speed to be on from the start, so it could play into the hands of something to finish over the top."
