Drawn to continue transition through the grades

PROMISING pacer Maxnjax has drawn to continue his transition through the grades this weekend.

Successful at two of his last three starts, Maxnjax is engaged in Saturday night's Melton meeting for trainer Philip Chircop.

To Chircop's delight, the son of Rock N Roll Heaven has drawn to settle forward from barrier four.

"He's a very nice type," Chircop said. "When held up for a final run, he is very quick.

"He can do a bit more work in lower company, but as he gets higher in grade, he will have to be held up for a late run.

"I'm happy with his draw, but I think Jodi (Quinlan) will have to drive him as a sit sprinter this time."

Citing Sweet Deal as the one to beat despite her second row draw, Chircop is also wary of Odin, which will also begin from the back line.

"Sweet Deal is low flying and Odin is in very consistent form," Chircop said. "It is hard to see Sweet Deal being beaten, but if things go my bloke's way, he can win."
