Drawn to upstage hot favourite
FORMER Queensland pacer My Rocky Romance has drawn to cause an upset at Globe Derby tomorrow night.
Transferred to South Australian horseman Robert Caruso last month, My Rocky Romance was fourth upon debut before an eye-catching third last weekend.
Hoping he's figured out "the key" to the gelding, Caruso believes My Rocky Romance is capable of upstaging his more fancied rivals.
"He has done alright in his first two starts," Caruso said. "He had a bit of time off before he came here and I tried to rush him up a touch for his first start, yet he still went ok.
"He was probably a bit underdone the other night as well, but is fitter now.
"We've figured out he is a bit laid back, so you've got to keep him awake. When he grabs hold of the bit though, he is alright."
To be driven by Gaita Pullicino, My Rocky Romance has drawn to search for the front from barrier two.
Dani Hill, who partnered My Rocky Romance during his local starts, will take the reins behind short-priced favourite Hasty Bid.
Successful at his last two outings, Hasty Bid will begin from the outside of the front row - barrier seven.
"I'm happy with his draw," Caruso said. "Now it'll come down to how much work he has to do to try and find the lead.
"Gaita could suit him as she does get aggressive and might keep him awake."
