Elvis ready to rock 'n' roll in Final
PROMISING youngster Send In Elvis is ready to 'rock n roll' in Terang tonight.
Making a successful debut in Geelong last May, Send In Elvis was then placed in a paddock while trainer Ashleigh Herbertson and his family enjoyed an overseas trip.
Returning to racing with a third in Cranbourne on August 10, the three-year-old then captured a series heat in Maryborough last week.
That earned the son of A Rocknroll Dance a berth in tonight's Final where he has drawn barrier three.
Pleased with Send In Elvis' progress, Herbertson's reinsman-son, James, is quietly confident the gelding can add to his growing record.
"I do have a lot of time for him," Herbertson said. "But he is still pretty green and got some maturing to do.
"When we all had a holiday the horses got tipped out, but he probably would've had a let-up anyway.
"He may even get tipped out again after this run as he is quite immature in his body and we're in no rush with him.
"That said, he is feeling great, shows promise and will be right for tonight."
Citing Keayang Seaside as the one to beat, Herbertson believes the Final is a "wide open affair".
"It is not an easy race by any means," Herberston said. "There is some good form in the race, so quite a few are considered dangers.
"The two drawn inside him come out quickly, so the first couple of hundred metres will be interesting."
