Exciting freshman to end season on a high
LAMBRO MACH

EXCITING freshman Lambro Mach is expected to have no trouble rounding out his season with another feature win.

Completing a clean sweep of last month's Golden Nursery series, Lambro Mach will return to Globe Derby for tomorrow night's Lordship Stake.

Drawn to lead throughout from barrier four, the David Phillips-trained gelding is a $1.40 favourite on the strength of his two wins and a debut second from three starts.

"This will be his last run for the year," Phillips said. "We were planning to head over the border to pick up his Vicbred bonus as well, but have decided to put that off until next season.

"We've taken our time with him all along, so that's what we will continue to do.

"He's shown a lot of potential from the beginning, so with the benefit of a long break, we believe we will have a very nice three-year-old next season."

Although he rates Splash Of Paynt as the main danger, Phillips is extremely confident Lambro Mach "will get the job done."

Splash Of Paynt was second and third behind Lambro Mach during the two rounds of the Golden Nursery.

Recently transferred to local horseman Ray Holberton, Splash Of Paynt is listed as a $4.50 second elect from gate three.

"Splash Of Paynt remains the biggest threat, but he will have to do everything right, while my bloke does things wrong," Phillips said. "He still has to get out there and get the job done, but I'm extremely confident with him."
