AN EXPERIMENTAL trip has garnished the perfect result with rising star Interview.

Confident Interview can make his way to the highest echelon, Victorian trainer Anton Golino made the long journey to compete at last night's Club Menangle meeting as a learning curve for the French-bred trotter.

To Golino's delight Interview handled the expedition like a seasoned veteran, winning in 1:56.7 over 2300 metres.

"He's a nice horse with a big engine and I believe he can go all the way," Golino said. "I took him to Menangle as I wanted to see how he would handle a long trip away and he never missed a beat.

"He has only just turned five, is still lightly-raced and I think at this stage time will be his best friend, therefore I will keep taking it slowly with him.

"In fact, he will go to the paddock now and we'll continue to take him through the grades next time in."

Driven by local star Luke McCarthy, Interview was caught wide for the first quarter from barrier 10 before working to the lead.

Striding clear along the home straight, the son of Traders scored by six-and-a-half metres from On Advice, with One Majic Kenny seven-and-a-half metres away third.

"It was the ideal run I wanted for him," Golino said. "Although he was wide, Luke gave him time to balance before looking for the front and he relaxed perfectly."

Owned by Yabby Dam Farms, Interview stretched his winning streak to seven for a record of nine wins and three thirds from 15 starts.
