Favourable draw foundation for $150,000 upset?
CHARLENE GUSMAN

A FAVOURABLE draw has trainer Charlene Gusman upbeat about her chances in Saturday night's Australian Pacing Gold Final at Club Menangle.

A handy fifth in her prelude, Vinnies Hope is poised to settle in a prominent position from barrier two, giving Victorian-based Gusman hope of a forward showing from the daughter of Vincent.

While she is aware of the momentous task at hand, Gusman believes Vinnies Hope is capable of surprising a few with the right amount of luck.

"I know she is all but making up the numbers, but I still think she can be competitive," Gusman said. "She certainly gets her chance to make an impact from the draw.

"If she can finish in the top half of the field and earn some good money I will be rapt.

"Anything more than that and we'll be over the moon."

Purchased via APG's Sydney Sale, Vinnies Hope will certainly have plenty of support given her large group of owners.

Syndicated by Gusman, Vinnies Hope has 18 members in her ownership group. with several enjoying their first foray in harness racing.

"I bought her and put the group together," Gusman said. "She's owned by a passionate bunch, and just to be in a race worth $150,000 with them is fantastic.

"A number of them are first time owners, so it is even more exciting.

"Her cheer squad will certainly be doing their best to help her cause an upset!"
