Favourite will find it hard to win!
JUST as he has for the past few years, Ryan Hryhorec is expected to dominate another trotters' feature this weekend.
In 2022 Hryhorec became the first trainer in the nation to complete a clean sweep of a state's Trotters' Cups before being a regular on the dais in 2023.
Hryhorec then won four Cups in 2024, and five this season, including the Fred Jones, Kadina, Gawler Hambletonian, Kapunda and Strathalbyn Trotters' Cups.
"I've been fortunate to have had a bit of success in the Cups in recent years," Hryhorec said. "It helps when you've got the stock.
"This year we are having another great run and hopefully that can continue tonight."
Hryhorec's "stock" includes five runners in The Pride Of Petite at Globe Derby, with the premier horseman to drive Ebonys Avenger from a 40-metre backmark.
The daughter of Kvintet Avenger will be joined by her stablemates Majestic Summer and So Vogue, which will begin from the front line, Cadence Lance from the 10-metre line and Used To Be A Maid off 30 metres.
Despite her sizable handicap Ebonys Avenger is a $3 favourite in early markets.
Although outside of the draw in stands due to her unruly behaviour, Used To Be A Maid is considered the main threat at $4.
"Ebony is clearly the best horse, but 40 metres is a fair ask," Hryhorec said. "She is entitled to be the favourite, but that doesn't mean she will win!
"Used To Be A Maid is going well, but has been bombing the start.
"They are all good chances, but it will come down to how they get away at the start."
