First step along Group One trail

First step along Group One trail

RISING star Double Lou will kick-start his quest for more Group One glory this weekend.

Sent for a well-earned break following his Breeders' Challenge success at Club Menangle last October, Double Lou will return to the world class venue tomorrow night.

Double Lou's Breeders' Challenge victory provided Bailey McDonough with his maiden Group One triumph as a trainer, having already experienced top shelf glory behind Just Believe as a driver.

Pleased with the gelding's progress, McDonough is using the 1609-metre sprint as the first step towards a Chariots Of Fire berth.

Australasia's premier four-year-old event, the Chariots Of Fire is scheduled to be conducted at Club Menangle on March 7.

To be driven by McDonough, Double Lou faces a daunting task from barrier eight.

The son of Sweet Lou had an eye-catching trial three weeks ago and is predicted to be ready to produce a forward showing.
