ENJOYING no luck during last weekend's Inter Dominion Final, Mach Dan has the opportunity to gain some consolation on Saturday night.

Successful in two heats, while finishing third in another, Mach Dan was considered to be among the main chances in the Championship decider, but never got his chance to shine.

Not only did the son of Mach Three receive a shocking second row draw, he was also inconvenienced twice during the run.

Recovering well from the outing, Mach Dan is engaged in the Cranbourne Cup.

To trainer Emma Stewart's dismay, the Group One winning Australian Pacing Gold purchase will once again begin from the back row.

With Mark Pitt to take the reins, Mach Dan will come from gate 11.

"You can pretty much forget he went around last week," Stewart said. "He never got into the race given the draw and the way it was run.

"He's pulled up fine and will try again on Saturday night.

"The draw isn't exactly great, but it is what it is."

No stranger to success in the provincial feature, winning three of the last six editions, Stewart will also be represented by Hes Ideal and Like A Wildfire.

Hes Ideal has fared best in the pole, with Like A Wildfire also drawn the second row.
