From Inter outsider to second favourite
AMONG the outsiders to win the Final before the Championship began, Act Now is vying for favouritism with TAB Fixed Odds following a pair of impressive Inter Dominion heat performances.
Successful during the opening round in Ballarat last weekend, Act Now was an eye-catching third in Shepparton on Tuesday night.
As a result of Act Now's efforts punters have continued to wager their 'hard earned' on the Emma Stewart-trained four-year-old.
Opening at $41, Act Now is listed as the $6.50 second favourite ahead of next week's Group One Final.
The son of Somebeachsomewhere is also expected to make his way into the decider on a winning note after drawing the pole in tomorrow night's third heat in Geelong.
Offering $2.50 for the entire, TAB Fixed Odds have cut their quote to $1.70.
"He is easily the best backed runner on the card,” TAB's Andrew Georgiou said.
"As soon as we went up, the bets started coming for him. The $2.50 didn't last very long at all."
Also heat winners, Act Now's stablemates Honolua Bay and Mach Dan have tightened since the time-honoured series began.
The only undefeated pacer after two rounds, Honolua Bay's price has fallen from $13 to $6.50.
Triumphant in Shepparton, Mach Dan has dropped from $18 to join his stablemates on $6.50.
