From people's horse to $151 rank outsider
A MONTH ago Bulletproof Boy was in winning form, creating headlines and being referred to as "the people's horse".
This weekend his figures don't read as well, the spotlight has moved on and he's pretty much friendless!
But that doesn't worry trainer Scott Ewen.
Making his way along the Hume Highway as this article is being written, Ewen is well-aware of the monumental task Bulletproof Boy will face at Club Menangle tomorrow night.
Aiming to become one of the oldest pacers to compete in the Miracle Mile, the 10-year-old is engaged in The Cordina Group Sprint - a qualifier for the southern hemisphere's premier sprint.
"It is a big ask to say the least," Ewen said. "He's up against a pretty hot field and the main chances have all drawn better than him.
"That said, I expect the tempo to be pretty quick and he has proven how much he enjoys coming off a fast pace in the past, so hopefully it can work out for him."
To be driven by Ewen, Bulletproof Boy has drawn barrier six, but moves into five once the emergency is taken out of the equation.
TAB Fixed Odds have the gelding listed as the $151 rank outsider, with Swayzee heading the market at $2.15 from gate five.
"Someone has to be the outsider, but I don't think he should be at those odds," Ewen said. "All I can say is I have him feeling as good as he can be, he's fit, healthy and happy, so now it comes down to how he goes on the night."
