Gets his chance from the draw
CONSISTENT performances coupled with a favourable draw have provided Jilliby Nitro's connections with a confidence boost ahead of Saturday night's Inter Dominion.
Among the placegetters during two of the three qualifying rounds, Jilliby Nitro has drawn perfectly in the Group One Final at Club Menangle.
Prepared by astute horseman Peter Rixon, and to be driven by his son, Will, Jilliby Nitro will begin from the pole in the $500,000 decider.
"I'm very happy with his draw," Rixon said. "He has done a terrific job in the heats, but was always going to need a good draw in the Final.
"Now he has it and hopefully it makes him a strong place chance."
Jilliby Nitro has been kept safe in betting, with TAB Fixed Odds listing the son of Bettors Delight at $12.
Dual heat winner, Don Hugo, heads the market at $2.50 from barrier four.
"It's a pretty open Final, one of the most open in years," Rixon said. "You never know, with a lot of luck he could even pull off an upset.
"Don Hugo has earned the right as favourite, but there are number of runners in it you just wouldn't be shocked if they won."=
