Glass shattering noise is the sound of passion!
IF YOU attended yesterday's Maryborough meeting, were standing in your backyard 50 kilometres away from the track or were watching the final event on SkyChannel, chances are you heard a loud noise as the field for turned for home.
Beginning at a high pitch, the racket intensified as the winner got closer to the finish.
Though the screech is rumoured to be capable of shattering glass, the vociferate in question is best described as "passion"!
In fact, even broadcaster Lachlan McIntosh acknowledged the howl during his call as the winner - Kyvalley Surfrider - began his sprint along the outside of the straight by stating "start cheering Katrina".
Katrina, who had already broken the sound barrier before McIntosh's reference, is colourful trainer Katrina Fitzpatrick.
Widely-known for her excitement, Fitzpatrick harnesses the purist essence of passion each time she has a runner.
"I was so excited when he was pulled off the leader's back," Fitzpatrick said. "I think I started screaming before that...before they got into the home straight even!
"I do get pretty excited, but I wasn't the only one having a go...a few others were screaming too."
Driven by Chris Alford, Kyvalley Surfrider completed an eight-metre win from Sonnyboy, with Rockford Peach nine metres away third.
Owned by Fitzpatrick along with her husband, Darren, the son of Love You rated 2:00.3 over 2190 metres to complete consecutive wins, having scored at Tabcorp Park Melton four days earlier.
"It was a great week," Fitzpatrick said. "When he won a few days before it was my first win in Melton.
"There is a race for him in Charlton in a couple of weeks I will get him ready for now."
