Gun shooting for third Group One success
TALENTED Victorian pacer Heza Son Of Agun has earned a shot at claiming a third Group One thanks to his success at Club Menangle just moments ago.
By capturing the Paleface Adios Stake, Heza Son Of Agun secured a berth in Australia's premier four-year-old event - next week's Chariots Of Fire.
The $250,000 feature will also be conducted at the world class venue.
Trained by Matthew Craven, Heza Son Of Agun has enjoyed glory at Group One level by securing a Vicbred Final at two and the Caduceus Classic as a three-year-old.
Driven by Craven during his latest victory, Heza Son Of Agun scored by three metres from the pacemaker Cantfindabettorman.
Invitation Only was six-and-a-half metres away third.
Covering the mile in 1:50.7, Heza Son Of Agun took his record to 11 wins and 12 placings from 34 starts for earnings of $308,290.
The son of Art Major joins Captain Ravishing and Republican Party as automatic invites to the Chariots Of Fire, with the balance of the field consisting of Lightning Dan, Tims A Trooper, Mahomes, My Ultimate Ronnie, Cantfindabettorman, Invitation Only and Catch A Wave.
Captain Ravishing booked his position in the assembly by winning The Bonanza at Tabcorp Park Melton last week, while Republican Party won a Menangle-based qualifier - Hondo Grattan Stake - on the same night.
The remaining runners in the Chariots Of Fire field are those which finished in the top four in the two Menangle qualifying races.
