Hoping to break Cup hoodoo
CONNECTIONS of handy mare Honeybun hope she can finally break her Cup hoodoo this weekend.
A regular on the country circuit last season, Honeybun finished among the placegetters in several provincial features for co-trainers Jill Neilson and Katie Wilson.
Back in action in Port Pirie tomorrow night, the daughter of Always B Miki is engaged in the Kadina Pacing Cup.
"She is no star, in fact she's a bit of a bitch, but she always gives 110 per cent on the track," Neilson said. "She never stops trying and deserves to win a Cup along the way.
"She'll need luck to do so and maybe that can happen tomorrow night."
To be driven by Michael Smith, Honeybun faces a tough task from barrier seven - the outside of the front row.
TAB Fixed Odds have the six-year-old listed as a $26 outsider, with Delightfull Tammy the $2.50 favourite despite her back row draw.
Delightfull Tammy was triumphant in last week's Italian Cup at Globe Derby.
"The draw has certainly makes it tougher," Neilson said. "It is a strong field and she will need luck to go her way."
