Hoping to go one better in Cup
CONNECTIONS of handy pacer Serg Blanco hope he can go one better when he returns to Bendigo.
Runner-up in the club's Pacing Cup last season, Serg Blanco is set to contest tomorrow night's edition for trainer Steven Duffy.
Although the son of Bettors Delight has been winless since capturing the Yarra Valley Cup on November 9, 2023, he has remained consistent, including placings in several Cups.
"It's been a long time since he got a win on the board, but I have been happy with each of his runs in between," Duffy said. "He never puts in a bad run.
"Even his last start, which was at Menangle before Christmas, he finished eighth, but still went well.
"Jacob (Duggan, driver) came back off the track and said he felt strong all the way, but just had no racing room..hopefully that can change at Bendigo."
To be driven by Ryan Duffy, Serg Blanco has drawn poorly in barrier seven - the outside of the front row.
TAB Fixed Odds have the gelding listed at $61, with New Zealand raider Tact Mcleod a $1.85 favourite from gate five.
"He just can't seem to get a decent draw lately," Duffy said. "I think six is the closest he's been to the pegs for quite some time!
"We'll need luck from there, but with the right run, he will let them know he is in it."
