I think it's the first time Mat's colours have won an Inter Dominion heat!
WINNERS are certainly grinners and there are some who even believe their success warrants a chicken dinner.
Although the best she could manage as a triumphant feast was a hotdog, there was no missing Bella Mason's infectious grin in Shepparton last night.
Thanks to her heroics earlier in the evening, Mason was sporting a smile that not only lit up the venue, it would make the Colgate Kid envious!
Partnering her white pony, Blaze, Mason was victorious in an Inter Dominion heat, ultimately booking a berth in next week's Final.
In what makes for a perfect 'show and tell' display at St Patrick's Primary School in St Arnaud this morning, Mason's haul included a flash ribbon and trophy.
"This is the eighth trophy I have won," a proud Mason exhaled. "I've won seven country cups as well.
"I love Blaze and think he is the best."
Three years Mason's senior, Blaze has been in the nine-year-old's care for two seasons thanks to an amazing gesture from prominent trainer, Matthew Craven.
Preparing horses for Mason's parents Jane and Les, Craven became aware of the youngster's desire to race a pony before arranging Blaze to be transported from South Australia to his Ecklin South stable.

Craven purchased Blaze from Des Glynn, who bred and owns dual Group One winner and Inter Dominion contender Majestic Cruiser.
"Mat rang and asked if I was still looking for a pony and said he has one and the gear ready to go for me and I burst out in tears," Mason recalled.
"Now I wear Mat's colours when we race and I think it's the first time Mat'scolours have won an Inter Dominion heat!"
Although she didn't enjoy the same good fortune last night, Mason's younger sister, Ebony, has also enjoyed country cup success.
Sporting Craven's 'back up colours', Ebony and her star, Coco, recently won the Maryborough Cup at their second start.
