IMMEDIATE plans are yet to be determined with The Locomotive despite registering another Group One victory.

Triumphant in last season's Vicbred Super Series Final, the colt successfully defended his title in Melton tonight.

While key targets such as the Victoria Trotters' Derby and Australasian Breeders' Crown in late October and November are on the agenda, connections have to decide whether The Locomotive will contest the Need For Speed Prince series early next month.

"To be honest, I'm not sure what is next with him," trainer Wayne Potter said. "He isn't eligible for the Need For Speed at the moment, but we can pay a late fee to have him in it.

"I'll talk it over with his owner on Monday and make a decision from there.

"Either way, he has the Derby and Crown still to go."

With Nathan Jack holding the reins, The Locomotive led throughout from barrier four to complete an effortless 14-and-a-half metre win from Stevie Gee.

Despite breaking stride during the run, Price Of Rock rallied to be 15 metres away third.

"He did it very easily tonight," Potter said. "Nathan didn't even pull the plugs.

"Once he got to the front he was always going to be hard to beat, but he still had to be good enough to get the job done."

Rating 1:58.6 over 2240 metres, the exceptionally-bred three-year-old took his record to 11 wins and three seconds from 17 starts for earnings of $278,398.
