In-form mare aimed at rich futurity
PLATINUM JIVE

NEXT month's Vicbred Super Series is on the agenda for in-form mare, Platinum Drive.

Boasting two wins and a pair of thirds from her last six starts, Platinum Drive is "in the right space" heading into the futurity according to trainer Vic Pace.

Heats of the series are scheduled to be conducted in Melton on August 30, with the semis to be run at the same venue a week later.

Should all go according to plan, Platinum Drive will then contest the Final on September 14.

"We paid good money for her and she has always shown ability, but it has taken time to settle her down," Pace said. "She was quite fizzed when she got here and has slowly improved as she's gone along.

"She's eligible for the Sires', so that's where I will head with her next.

"She is in the right space at the moment, but the heats are a couple of weeks away, so I may give her a trial in between to keep her ticking along nicely.

"I couldn't have been happier with her win in Melton the other night and hopefully it has her confidence right up before the heats."

Driven by Pace's son, William, Platinum Drive led throughout from barrier three to score by a metre-and-a-half from Sweetgamblingrose.

Twisting By, trained by Pace's son Joe and driven by his grandson, Adrian, was a head away third in 1:56.5 over 1720 metres.
