Inter heat winners still at good odds for Finals
DESPITE being the only undefeated competitors in their divisions, Honolua Bay and Just Believe remain at good odds in betting markets for next week's Finals.
Too good in the opening round of Inter Dominion heats in Ballarat last Saturday, the pair continued their winning ways during the second qualifiers in Shepparton last night.
Honolua Bay has produced two massive performances on his way to victory - working in the 'death seat' for his first win before travelling three-wide without cover for the last lap for his follow-up success.
Trained by premier horsewoman Emma Stewart, the son of Somebeachsomewhere is at $6.50 with TAB Fixed Odds.
Remarkably Honolua Bay's stablemates Act Now and Mach Dan - both heat winners - are also $6.50.
Runner-up in both heats, Expensive Ego heads the market at $5, with his Belinda McCarthy-trained stablemate, Spirit Of St Louis, the co-favourite.
Expensive Ego was on the wrongside of history last year when he became the only pacer or trotter to lose the Inter Dominion Final on protest since the Championship's inauguration in 1936.
Second past the post, Boncel Benjamin was promoted to first in the stewards' room.
Unable to return to the winners' circle since his historic triumph, Boncel Benjamin has finished towards the tail of the field in both heats and is at $301.
As for Just Believe, he led throughout for his two wins - scoring by two-and-a-half metres in Ballarat and five-and-a-half metres in Shepparton.
TAB Fixed Odds have the Jess Tubbs-trained squaregaiter on the third line of betting at $5, with Bolt For Brilliance a $2 favourite ahead of Queen Elida at $4.
