International trip being considered for Group One winner
A TRIP across the Tasman is being considered for rising star Rock N Roll Doo.
Speaking after the four-year-old's Group One triumph at Tabcorp Park Melton last night, trainer Michael Stanley stated an assault on the New Zealand Cup is being "seriously considered".
In fact, Stanley plans to give Rock N Roll Doo some standing start trials in a bid to confirm the Shaky Isles campaign.
The time-honoured Cup is scheduled to be run on November 8.
"We have nominated him for the New Zealand Cup because we believe with his gait that might really suit him," Stanley said. "In a stand he is able to take his time to get into his gear instead of the fast pace of a mobile.
“I will run him in the Kilmore Cup in a couple of weeks and the Victoria Cup after that, but I will give him a standing start trial at Geelong and see how he goes.
"If he goes well Brendan’s (James owner) really keen to go over for the Cup and have a serious crack at it.”
While it remains to be seen if Rock N Roll Doo does embark on an international endeavour, there is nothing uncertain about his latest victory.
With Stanley in the cart, Rock N Roll Doo was settled two-back in the running line as Copy That worked to find the lead.
Angled three-wide along the back straight, the son of Rock N Roll Heaven sustained a strong sprint to score by five metres from Max Delight.
Bulletproof Boy was a half-head away third in 1:50.8 over 1720 metres.
