International trip to be confirmed
LOGISTICS will determine whether Rock N Roll Doo will head across the Tasman later this month.
Connections have made no secret of their desire to tackle the New Zealand Cup with the exciting four-year-old, but are yet to book a flight to the Shaky Isles.
Speaking after the son of Rock N Roll Heaven dominated tonight's Victoria Cup at Tabcorp Park Melton, trainer Michael Stanley stated a decision on the international trip will be confirmed by Monday.
The New Zealand Cup is scheduled to run in Addington on November 8.
"Brendan (James, owner) wants him in the New Zealand Cup and at this stage is it 90 per cent likely he will be going," Stanley said.
"Flights and a few other things need to be sorted out with a decision likely to be made tomorrow.
"All things be even, he will be in the New Zealand Cup."
As for his latest performance, Rock N Roll Doo outstayed his rivals to claim the Grand Circuit event in stunning fashion.
With Stanley in the cart, Rock N Roll Doo was caught three-wide early before being settled outside the leader, Expensive Ego.
Forging his way to the front turning for home, the gelding completed a three-metre win from Honolua Bay, with Better Eclipse a metre-and-a-half away third.
"Leaving the back straight when Luke (McCarthy) started shaking up Expensive Ego and I was just sitting there cruising I knew I had him covered," Stanley said.
"At the top of the home straight I was worried about something coming from behind, but halfway down when I saw the big screen and knew nothing would catch him I just smiled and enjoyed the ride.
"I've been fortunate to win Group Ones before, but this is the most prestigious of them all."
Rating 1:54 over 2240 metres, Rock N Roll Doo took his record to 12 wins and seven placings from 29 starts for earnings of $395,150.
