Interstate trip on the cards
A TRIP across the border is on the cards for handy pacer Sea Hunter.
Successful at Globe Derby last Saturday night, Sea Hunter is likely to have his next start in Ararat according to Mount Gambier trainer Greg Howard.
Howard has set his sights on a heat and Final series with the son of Cullens Hope ahead of another trek back to Globe Derby.
"There is a race for him at Ararat coming up, so I'm thinking of heading there," Howard said. "That is a heat, with the Final in Terang which I think will suit him.
"I may even take another one with him depending on how she trials tomorrow.
"Then we'll look at going back to Globe Derby. I don't mind going up there to race.
"You've just got to look around for the right race where you think is best for them."
Driven by Gaita Pullicino during his latest victory, Sea Hunter led throughout from barrier three to score by two-and-a-half metres from Trigger, with Art Regal nine metres away third.
"He has never been out in front, and Gaita had to sool him up, but when they came at him, he took off again," Howard said. "He's still green and learning.
"He's been green from the get go. At first you couldn't steer him probably, and he got it in his head he would only do what he wanted to do.
"He is starting to learn to be a racehorse now and is becoming more competitive, which means he is heading in the right direction."
