RISING star Harry Stamper has been sent for a well-earned spell.

Registering his second Group One win of the season with his Breeders' Crown triumph at Tabcorp Park Melton last night, Harry Stamper has already been placed in a paddock according to trainer Joe Pace.

Successful in the New South Wales Trotters' Derby at Club Menangle last May, Harry Stamper boasts six wins and two seconds from nine starts since joining Pace's stable.

With the son of Majestic Son ineligible for next month's Vicbred Super Series, Pace has elected to send Harry Stamper for a break.

"I'll give him a good, long spell now," Pace said. "There isn't much else for him for the rest of the season so it's an ideal time to give him time off.

"He's looking at about six weeks off before I slowly bring him back up.

"I won't be rushing him next season. He's already an 87-rater, so he'll be coming back on a tight mark.

"This time next year I might look at some of the bigger races, but the early part of the season will be about adjusting him to open class racing."

Driven by Anthony Butt, Harry Stamper led throughout the Final to score by five metres from Cravache Dor.

Courage Stride was three metres away third in 1:57.8 over 2240 metres.

"He has come through the run in super shape and could go around again today if I wanted him to," Pace said. "As soon as he got home he licked his feed bin clean and is jumping out of his skin this morning.

"It's the perfect way to end his year and hopefully he can go on with it next season."
