King to continue Cup reign
LEADING horseman Ryan Hryhorec looks set to continue his reign as the King of the Trotters' Cups this season.
Hryhorec has dominated the provincial features like no other in recent years, including becoming the first trainer in the nation to complete a clean sweep of a state's provincial squaregaiting Cups in 2022.
A regular on the dais in 2023, Hryhorec then won four Cups in 2024, including the Fred Jones Cup, which he captured again on Saturday night.
Triumphant with Regal Attire last year, Hryhorec scored with Tweedledee, which is undefeated from three starts this campaign.
"He is in terrific form," Hryhorec said. "He came over for the Kapunda Cup last October, but was at the end of his tether, so I sent him straight to a paddock.
"The time off did him the world of good and he has gone from strength-to-strength since."
With Dani Hill holding the reins, Tweedledee overcame a 20-metre to account for My Used To Be and Blue Coman in 2:05 over 2645 metres.
"They don't come that wide around the corner at Globe Derby and win like he did very often," Hryhorec said. "It was a great run.
"He is certainly back to his best, which is great to see.
"I'll keep following the country cup with him, but the handicapper will catch up with him just like a couple of others after a few cup wins, I would imagine.
"Until then, Kapunda is next and then on to the others."
